A website is the face of your business online, with more people searching online before searching any other media it needs to not only leave a visitor with a lasting impression, it should convert that visitor into a customer.  One area a business or organization should not cheap out on is their website; it’s the number one tool to your marketing success

Last week I was in Delhi on my business trip. In one of meeting with a client who wants to increase their presence in online and want to generate more business quarries. Our company does a uniquely fantastic job at driving traffic to websites through a combination of search engine optimization, social media marketing, and other tools, so it was pretty simple to say “sure we can help you out!”

After taking a look at the client’s website, send the link by mail to my Technical team in Bangalore to evaluate. In 15minutes I got the report back by mail. It became clear that their current website is not going to create some major impact in web world.  To say the least it was creepy. Then I went on to make him understand. Why?

During their business start-up, the company had decided to save some money by using a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) website builder. When I told this website is of no-use you have to go for Developing a website using a DIY platform can be a quick solution, especially for companies without design resources. There are a many issues you'll run into if you go this route. First the template you are using may be look new, good and may fit your needs also. But this template is in use with many other companies.

My client not convinced went on to say only last year I spent 4000 rupees to redesign with the help of a free-lancer. Free-lancer may sound like a cool idea, but this free-lancer is not competent website designer. Why? Because his 4000 rupees price seems to indicate that this does not do web design for a living.

As your business grows on, the individual web designers or free-lancer who can be your cousin/friend/relative that can do it for cheap come crawling back to you time and time again because their designer failed to deliver for a number of reasons no one can think of.

As your business grows, so should your website. Many problems you could run into with a DIY website.  The scalability, functionality and sophistication of the site it limited.  Also when it comes to responsiveness and device strategy this DIY website found wanting. If you want a more interactive user experience, specialized functionality or custom features, DIY website is not the choice.

Professional Web development companies have thousands of plug-ins and extensions for module-based website growth at their disposal.

Repair & Maintenance:

A successful website requires more than just a good design and catchy name. It is like buying an Audi and keeps it parked in your portico. Without knowing driving or having a competent driver the car is no use to you. Therefore, unless you or someone at your business has the ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve issues that might arise with your website, using a professional to design, monitor and maintain your business website can save you and your site’s visitors a lot of grief in the long run.

You may be able to produce an attractive website using DIY platform. Just think do you have expertise in:

Click-Through-Rate (CTR)

Search Engines and SEO

Professionalism and Simplicity

Future Needs and Website Growing With Your Business

 Budget:

In the end, money will undoubtedly be a major point in your decision to outsource your business website or do the work in-house. Good professional website developers usually don’t work cheap, nor should they.

Building the site yourself will usually save you a lot of money. However, before you undertake the task yourself or appoint the task to one of your employees, you should determine if the time you spend on the project could better be used to manage and grow your business. The time you might spend designing, creating and implementing could wind up costing you more in lost business revenue than what you pay to a professional Web Design company
