Jewellery that celebrates Womanhood: Gold, Silver and Gemstones

Posted by lindahobbs on January 12th, 2016

Women and jewellery go hand-in-hand. Try telling a woman that she has enough jewellery to last a lifetime and she needn’t buy anymore. Even before you feel proud for having convincingly made your point, you will find her wearing the latest design in the market, may be even custom made for her. She can never have enough.

From time immemorial, women have been particularly passionate about jewellery. For some women it is a status symbol, for some an undeniable fashion accessory, while for some it is an extension of their clothing and personality. Whatever the reason, women have always been picky and choosy about their jewels. Jewellery is seen by a woman not only as an indulgence, but also an investment in time of need.

Gold jewellery has always been the most common in traditional jewellery, while silver comes a close second. While today’s women go for the minimalist look, women in the yesteryears wore heavy and flamboyant jewellery that also weighed significantly. Their attire was incomplete without the glitter of their trinkets. Ears, nose, forehead, hands, fingers, toes, ankles; there was a piece of jewellery for every body part.

Fashion jewellery has undergone a sea change in the last few years. Not only has it become easily available due to the advent of e-commerce, it has also become a bit easy on the pocket. It has now become affordable for any budding or indulgent fashionista. For every woman, whether she is a career woman, a college girl or a homemaker there are options available in any type of jewellery of their choice.

Necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets etc are some of the commonly used ornaments these days. While gold has been an all-time favourite, gemstone jewellery is slowly becoming a rage amongst women. It is unassuming, easy on the eyes, simpler to maintain and goes with just about everything. Pearl, ruby, aquamarine, agate, amethyst, coral are some examples of gem stones that are used in jewellery.

Silver jewellery is the best shot for a distinct rustic look. Bangles, necklaces, pendants, anklets etc made of silver are very commonly used. For a classy look in silver, rings, bracelets, earrings made of sterling silver is a very good option. They are easy to carry and can be matched with any colour or choice of clothes and can be worn everyday with minimal fuss.

A woman’s penchant for anything shiny and pretty can never be quantified. Jewels are very close to her heart and are way beyond anything assessable or comprehensible. It is said that a diamond is a woman’s best friend. If this adage holds true then gold, silver and other gems are at least bound to be her very dear friends.
