Newbridge was founded as a gold mining town, the Post Office opening on 1 February 1856. Newbridge village developed round the railway line and station which was built in 1876. Newbridge is a popular camping and fishing location with campsites available across the river. A point of pride to the town, the neighborhood have kept your building beautifully maintained, and Newbridge has won many awards first of the finest presented stations inside state. One of Australia's oldest and largest regional galleries presenting innovative exhibitions alongside an engaged and varied suite of public programs and events. If you would like to view some of the displays from the Camera Group then visit Ye Olde Gallery in the corner of Trunkey and Caloola Street in Newbridge. The Newbridge Winter Solstice can be a day of medieval magic and music. It takes place in the pub (closed to the occasion) as well as on the Gladstone Green. The entertainment has contained magic shows, Viking fighting displays inside afternoon (from Iron Fest participants), food stalls, Morris Dancers, many market stalls, two bands (one inside the afternoon and another to the night), horse display, street entertainment and other activities for the younger people. There will likely be drink available from the Gladstone Hotel (Strong Ale, Draft Guinness and other merry-making fortifications at the same time!). There is going to be ample food to suit everyone (vegetarians included) from food stalls also as the Pub. Most people will be dressed up in Medieval Costume to enhance the merriment. The highlight of manufactured festivities will probably be the lighting and burning of the Wickerman around the large bonfire at 5pm. People are inspired to buy small Wickermen earlier, write their problems for the tag and then throw them around the fire to possess them burnt away!
