A Historical Journey To The Past Newbridge Village

Newbridge was founded as being a gold mining town, the Post Office opening on 1 February 1856. Newbridge village developed across the railway line and station which was integrated 1876. Newbridge is a popular camping and fishing location with campsites available down the river. A point of pride for that town, the neighborhood have kept your building beautifully maintained, and Newbridge has won a number of awards for one of the best presented stations within the state. One of Australia's oldest and largest regional galleries presenting innovative exhibitions alongside a dynamic and varied suite of public programs and events. If you would like to view many of the displays through the Camera Group then visit Ye Olde Gallery in the corner of Trunkey and Caloola Street in Newbridge. The Newbridge Winter Solstice can be a day of medieval magic and music. It takes place in the pub (closed for that occasion) and also on the Gladstone Green. The entertainment has was comprised of magic shows, Viking fighting displays inside the afternoon (from Iron Fest participants), food stalls, Morris Dancers, many market stalls, two bands (one in the afternoon and another to the night), horse display, street entertainment and other activities for that younger people. There will probably be drink which is available from the Gladstone Hotel (Strong Ale, Draft Guinness along with other merry-making fortifications at the same time!). There will likely be ample food to suit everyone (vegetarians included) from food stalls as well as the Pub. Most people will likely be dressed up in Medieval Costume to add to the merriment. The highlight of the morning festivities is going to be the lighting and burning in the Wickerman on the large bonfire at 5pm.
