How to Effectively Remodel Your Dental Office

Posted by Apex Design Build on January 19th, 2016

Remodeling your dental office is an excellent way to improve the efficiency of your company.  There are two sides of the business that you need to consider and those are the administrative side and the clinical side.  Your interior designer needs to be able to assess your current space and help you find a perfect balance of both.  Here are some things you should thing about when redesigning your dental office.

You should first ask yourself why you are remodeling and come up a list of reasons.  Whether it’s to appeal to a wider variety of patients or accommodate for new equipment, it is important to know what your goals are for the new dental design.  In order to get the most out of your remodel, you should hire a company that has vast experience with dental space planning, dental space interior design and dental/medical construction.  Only a company that has extensive experience will be able to fully understand your business and the equipment that you are utilizing.

Dental offices do not have the luxury of being shut down for weeks while they are being renovated, so it is good to find a company that understands this and works with you to remodel after hours or at other times that the office is closed.  Any dental construction work that is being done should be confined to a certain area at a time so your entire practice is not disrupted.

There are small things you can do that will be inexpensive but will offer dramatic improvements.  Applying a fresh coat of paint and updating lighting fixtures are just a few ways to give your office a fresh look.  Carpet tiles and vinyl planks are excellent flooring options for dental offices that are quick to install and cost-effective.

Making sure that patients are comfortable is a key element to any successful dental office, which is why comfortable seating should be given a good amount of consideration.  In addition to comfortable chairs, you will also want to have a waiting room that is pleasant and does not seem cold, sterile or outdated. Many dental patients are anxious about their appointments, so anything you can do to alleviate that anxiety will be beneficial.

Since a dental remodeling or construction project is a big undertaking, you want to make sure that you choose a company that will give your project the time and consideration it deserves.
