Buyers don’t suspect a sales pitch

Timeshare sales companies are famous for their selling methods. They invite unsuspecting buyers for a presentation by offering them goodies or a free stay in a resort. Most of the people who attend these presentations know little or nothing about timeshare. Furthermore, they do not intent to spend thousands of dollars on a commitment such as this. After attending presentations, and enough of pressure being put on them by extremely skilled sales people, they end up buying a product that they will probably never use. Decisions that are rushed

Timeshare sales persons are always telling their customers how they need to make a decision ‘now’, or in the ‘next two hours’. Some of them even make customers believe that they are being offered a deal of a lifetime that expires as soon as they leave. The truth however is very different. One does not need to decide on buying a time share immediately. You can take 1 day, a week, a month or even 5 years to decide. When people succumb to these pressure tactics, they soon realize that they have made a mistake. This is the reason laws were put into place to protect customers and allow for a timeshare cancellation policy.

A big monetary commitment

Taking on a timeshare mortgage is a huge financial commitment. Most victims of these high pressure sales tactics spend thousands from their savings to buy a timeshare. Add to this the yearly maintenance that you need to pay the property. This of course increases every year. Then one finds that they can never use the property when they want or even rent their week / days to someone they know. All in all it becomes a money sinking pit.

Given all of these factors it is no wonder that cancellation of a vacation club membership has not become a very common concept in the world of timeshare sales.
