Another method is to sprinkle talcum powder on your carpet and let it remain overnight.  All the odours will be absorbed by the talcum powder, and when you vacuum the rug, it will have a pleasant smell.

5.    Remove Stains

Taking care of stains like that of ketchup is necessary for your Persian carpet as they can cause permanent damage. You should treat the stain before it sets into the carpet.  Water and soap will be enough for simple stains, while for stubborn dirt, you need to use a petroleum-based solvent. Another method is to sprinkle baking soda on the stain and use a vacuum cleaner over it. Applying a solution of vinegar and warm water directly on the stain with a towel or sponge is also excellent for tough stains on your rug.
