The Wow Factor in Exhibit Booth Design

When it comes to effective booth traffic, you have to start with effective exhibit booth designespecially as the adage about first impressions being lasting impressions is all too true. Keep these strategies in mind when designing your exhibit booth for the wow factor that will make it stand out from the crowd.

Establish Your Booth’s Goals

Industry experts strongly recommend deciding on the goals for the custom exhibit booths even before making decisions about the design elements. You must ask yourself two crucial questions and making subsequent design decisions based on your answers:

  • What are the objectives for your trade show participation? Your objectives can include increasing awareness about your company as well as its products and services; establishing stronger links with your current partners; and making new connections with potential customers, vendors, and suppliers, among others.
  • What is your message? Everything from the color scheme to the copy (i.e., text) of your booth should communicate your message to your target audience. You have to remember that a target message – neither too broad as to alienate your target market nor too narrow as to exclude potential markets - is always the best.

The bottom line: Your booth should effectively convey your company’s brand, values and capabilities. You will find that making decisions regarding the following matters is easier, too:

  • Text. Less is more on an exhibition stand since you already have brochures and catalogs for this purpose. Be sure to use sufficiently large and clear fonts as well as to place your text on the stand’s upper half for easy reading.
  • Graphics. Choose customized images (i.e., avoid stock photos) that speak about your company as well as its products and services. Make your choice in relation to the complementary relationship between your texts and images. Consider the size and position of the images for easy viewing from a distance, too.

Maximize Your Space

Now that you have your attractive design in place, you should focus on maximizing the limited space that the trade show organizers provided for your company. You can do so by:

  • Using effective booth additions to your vertical space, such as a high arch, a tall central tower, or a top truss with a lighted rotating sign. Ask the organizers about the rules.
  • Adding strategic lighting that can highlight your message or attract traffic to your area. Examples include angled light boxes and colored lights.

You should obviously choose the best materials for your booth as even the most attractive message can be derailed by cheap materials. You have to be careful when making your choice from among several exhibit booths for sale.
