6 Ways to Increase Your Athletic Ability

Playing sports requires competitiveness that not many individuals possess. The desire to want to be the best at all times, and in order to do so you must be athletic. This means that you need to be able to do it all. Being strong, fast, and agile encompasses a good athlete, and these are the ways that you can improve on those things.

Increase Strength

When people think of getting stronger they think of big bulky muscles that get in the way of things. However, this is not the case. There are specific muscles that help improve athleticism. Those specific muscles are the lower body muscles such as the hamstrings and quads. These muscles can help improve speed and lateral quickness.

When you are looking to improve your athleticism it is important to strengthen all of the muscles in the body, but you must realize that there is a way to go about it. Rather than try and build big beach muscles, you should tone these muscles and strengthen them through high reps and low weights to prevent injury.

However, the less you weigh the less stress there is on your joints. The less stress you have on your joints the easier it is to move around and be more athletic.

Play Multiple Sports

Playing multiple sports can help create a well-rounded athlete. While you are not specifically working to improve a certain area of your athletic ability, individuals that play more than one sport are naturally more athletic. This is because there are different kinds of skill sets involved in playing multiple sports, and the more you play the better that specific skill set becomes and they can then translate to other sports.

Train Explosivity

Explosiveness is important in being an athlete. The best athletes are strong, fast, and agile, and explosiveness plays a part in all of those things. Training the fast-twitch muscle fibers can allow for increased explosivity, which will allow you to become faster, stronger, and more agile.

Overall, all of these things are great ways to improve your athleticism. However, focusing on all of them at one time can make things really difficult. In each training session focus on one or two aspects of your game. This will help you master each skill more and it will lead to you being a better athlete.
