THE HUNT FOR THE PERFECT OSCAR DRESS BEGINS?

Priyanka Chopra can barely contain her excitement about becoming the first Indian to present an Academy Award.

When Priyanka Chopra first met Keli Lee, Executive Vice President of Casting, ABC, in India along with her American manager Anjula Achari-Bath, she categorically stated that she wanted to command the same amount of screen space that she would have on Indian television or at a Bollywood awards night. "I was clear I wanted to be received as the star I already was in India. I felt like a debutante all over again, but actually, I was close to 50-films-old," PeeCee smiles.

Fast forward to a year and a half later, the 33-year-old actress has successfully headlined an American TV show, became the first South Asian to win a People's Choice award, and was recently named one of the presenters, including Steve Carell, Jared Leto, Kerry Washington, among others, at the upcoming Oscar awards, another first for an Indian. "These artists have enriched the international movie-going experience with a range of memorable work from the comic to the profound. In the process, they have won over millions of fans," a release issued by the Academy stated. PeeCee will also be the sole Indian to grace the Academy Awards this year, scheduled for February 28 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

"What do I say, I am so grateful for everything and feel on top of the world. I am eagerly looking forward to the awards. It will be an insane night. Now, the hunt for the perfect Oscar dress begins," the actress, who couldn't control her excitement upon receiving the news, screamed out loud. "All the no-sleep, shooting two episodes back-to-back in freezing Montreal and continent-hopping has truly paid of," she gushes.

Priyanka recalls being a 17-year-old nobody in Mumbai and today, finding her face plastered on hoardings across New York, California and Los Angeles, makes her smile and feel that her daddy is proud of her achievements.

Last week, the actress was a presenter at the 22nd Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, where she stunned in a pink Monique Lhuillier gown. She describes it as her, "Cinderella moment". The year had begun on a good note for the actress, when she won the People's Choice Award for Popular Actress in a New TV Show for Quantico, and was felicitated with the Padma Shri on Republic Day back home.

There's nothing left to conquer, probably she'll win an Oscar, next? "Hmmm... That's too big a feat, even for me," she signs off.
