XXL Dog Beds Buying Guide

Posted by johnpreston on February 7th, 2016

XXL dog beds are becoming more popular as dog owners have started to recognize their importance, and if your dog is one of the larger breeds, it makes sense to get him a bed that he’ll be comfortable in. Today’s dog beds have not only more comfortable but come in different styles.

How Big is Your Dog?

Before buying an orthopedic pet bed or any type of bed, make sure that it’s the right size for your pet. Measure him first while lying down, and allow some allowance if he likes to curl up because he might decide to stretch out on his new bed. Keep in mind that your dog’s weight is a factor too, and some of these beds are actually measured and defined by weight. While that’s important, you must not ignore the dimensions since it’s just as vital.

Going back to sleeping positions, some dogs like to sleep without changing position while others move and shift around a lot. Your dog might prefer to sleep next to a cushion or he could be the type who likes to lie on his back or stomach. Having an idea of how your dog sleeps is going to play a significant role in deciding what type of bed to buy.

What Types of Dog Beds are Available?

As mentioned earlier there are various types of beds for your dog, and they range from the basic type to more elaborate ones. Aside from the XXL size and sleeping position, your pet’s habits and age should also be factored in. If your dog is getting on the years for instance, it won’t be enough to just consider the size as convenience will be an issue too.

If your furry friend isn’t picky and has no special requirements, a basic dog bed will do fine. These are like oversized pillows and made specifically for large dogs. There’s no need to worry about ledges or any kind of feature that would make it hard for your dog to climb on the bed as it’s simply a cushion.

If your pet is the picky type he might settle for a bamboo memory foam mattress as it’s more comfortable and will allow him to sleep more easily. There are also nest beds that let your pet rest against a cushion, as is the preference of some pets. Bottom line, it’s not just about the size.
