What is Legal Advice?

Legal advice is nothing more than advice provided by a licensed lawyer based on a specific legal issue the client is facing.

In a nutshell, legal advice has the following characteristics:

  • Legal knowledge, skills, education, and judgment;
  • Application of a specific law to a specific set of circumstances;
  • Affects someone's legal rights or responsibilities;
  • Creates rights and responsibilities with a counselor.

Many people confuse legal advice and legal information. Legal advice assumes that in the end, you will get a specific result. In contrast, legal information is a simple awareness of how to do what can be done.

Examples of legal advice:

  • Selecting, drafting, or filling out legal documents or agreements affecting a person's legal rights;
  • Representing a person's interests in court or other governing body;
  • Negotiating legal rights or obligations on behalf of the person;
  • Selecting or filling out specific forms on behalf of the client.

Whatever your question to a lawyer is, during a legal consultation, a lawyer will tell you what and how to achieve a result and, of course, will offer his services. Do not despise the importance of consultation. It will help you better understand all the nuances of your case and what compensation you are entitled to in the end. Without consulting a competent lawyer, you can miss something important and get less compensation.
