Preparing for Memorial or Charleston Funeral Services

Posted by CharlesCremation on February 15th, 2016

Other factors also need to be considered including finances, cultural and religious beliefs, as well as basic options and information. For example:

. The body during a funeral service is presented in either a closed or open casket while this is not the case in a memorial service.

. The funeral or memorial service can be a religious one or not. Either can be held in a funeral facility such as Charleston funeral services, private home, church or any other location of choice.

. The service type does not determine whether a cremation or a burial is to be done neither does the type of cremation or burial dictate the type of service held.

. While it is easier for the family of the deceased to leave the arrangements at the hands of a funeral facility, some opt to plan the arrangement themselves.

What to consider when making funeral arrangements

A number of people opt to have their memorial or funeral service planned well in advance while yet others refuse to discuss the details. IT is really up to an individual and so you should do what you feel is right for you. The main advantage of planning in advance is that it gives you the chance to express what you want done.

When you have been asked to take care of all the funeral arrangements of a family or friend, it would be helpful if you did the following to ease the pressure:

. If possible, don’t do it alone, have someone by your side to be your support and also act as your advocate.

. Funeral directors will most times give you a rundown of all the options that you may have. This can be quite overwhelming. If you want to avoid a sales pitch, have your own wishes already thought out and let the funeral director be aware of the fact that you do have a plan.

. Most South Carolina cremation and funeral home service providers register deaths and will give you a death certificate of your loved one. The number of copies you will get will depend on the estate complexities hence the number of institutions you will be required to present the copies to.

To have the death certificate prepared, you will need to provide the following:

. Care Card number, birth certificate, and Social Insurance Number.

. Clothing, as desired

. Critical Statistics of the deceased including the name, birth name, birthplace, date of birth, father, mother, occupation, marital status, residency, and place of death

. Medical certificate from the attending physician or nurse.
