Pursue your dream of flight

Flying is not just a profession, but passion for many young pilots. There are many students who enter the field with only one dream to become a private pilot, or with further training and experience to fly commercially as a part of the Aviation industry. To pursue this dream one must get the proper training from a qualified flight school. One should consider many factors before choosing a flight school as it will create the foundation towards a successful career. The job of the pilot is just like the job of a doctor in surgery. When a pilot is flying he is responsible for the lives of others on the plane, choice of a qualified school for training is paramount.

Training provided by the flight schools: One should always understand that being a pilot is a job of responsibility and requires high level of training and experience. It is important to know how the flight school prepares their students for:

-Private Pilot Certificates: A pilot gets a private pilot certificate when he completes a minimum 40 hours of dual flight training time with a CFI instructor, FAA written test. After successful completion of an FAA checkride the pilot is eligible to become pilot in command of an aircraft carrying passengers.

-Preparing for FAAwritten test: Does the flight school give ground training classes to prepare the students for FAA written tests? It is one of the key areas to consider as the written tests are very important for the pilots to pass.

-Recurrent Training: One should always be prepared for an emergency or unusual situations. It is essential to provide recurrent training to the pilots so that they can be prepared to handle unexpected situations.  Every 2 years licensed private pilots require a BFR (Biennial flight review) by a licensed CFI.

-Advanced Training: Advanced training are highly recommended for those who are looking to increase their skill level the next logical step is instrument instruction, commercial pilot certification and ultimately ATP (Air Transport Professional).A school providing advanced training is definitely a good option to be considered.

-Introductory Flights:  The best first step to embarking on pilot training is an intro flight.  Spending an hour with an instructor and 30 minute flight to decide if the pursuit is right for the individual and the match up with instructor is good.

-GPS Training: In today’s changing aviation world navigation is more and more being done with GPS.  The FAA is phasing out older navigation systems and will be heading to a primary GPS navigation system for aviation in the US.  This technology and proper training on how to use it is one of the things to consider when looking at flight training schools.  Mastering new technology is important for the pilots and one of the requisites to cover in critical training for modern aircraft.

Finally, it is important for an aspiring pilot to search and enroll in a flight school which is not only technologically upgraded, has aircraft specifically designed and maintained for training but also prepared to cover the above mentioned training areas. Beginning flight training is the first step in a lifelong pursuit in learning and experience required to become a safe and proficient pilot.
