SMOKING AND CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE

 

Cigarette smoking is the most important preventable cause of premature death. It account for millions of deaths each year of which 40% are due to smoking related cardiovascular diseases. Cigarette smokers are two to three time likely to die from coronary related heart disease than non smokers.

 

Your heart will thank you for quitting smoking, so do not waste any time. The health benefits start almost immediately, and within a few year of quitting, your risk of stroke and coronary artery disease are similar to non smokers.

 

Thanks to the works of associations who work relentlessly to reduce the number of senseless deaths that results from tobacco use. As a result of their advocacy their no smoking on airline flights and many of us enjoy smoke free public places and communities. There is also legislation against advertising, marketing or availability of the product to children.
