Why You Should Change Energy Supplier

Posted by greenenergysg on February 24th, 2016

When the time comes to renew your energy policy, most people will just renew them without a second thought.

Companies and energy supplier Singapore know that people will do this, because they recognise people live hectic lives and don't have the time to search around for another deal, so just stick with what they know best.

This is a mistake a lot of people are making, energy supplier Singapore is not lowering their rates for you. They may knock off a couple of quid, but because people are just renewing and not checking around for other rates, the tariff is likely to stay relatively the same.

You can use online policy storage programs to manage your household budget so you can see how much you are spending on energy bills and when your policy is due for renewal. This will help you keep on top and be in control of your finances.

Now, have you even considered switching?

Can I switch?

No matter what your contract says, you can switch energy supplier Singapore at any time, as long as you are responsible for paying the bills yourself. Some people believe that because their contract says 12 months or similar, they have to stay. As long as you've paid off all the outstanding bills, there is absolutely no reason you should be made to stay with the same supplier.

How much can I save?

This depends on a number of factors like, how much energy you use, how you pay your bill (monthly, yearly etc) and also how many suppliers operate in your area (with regards to competing against each other.) You can save up to 200 a year by switching supplier.

How do I switch?

Use a comparison site to decide on which supplier and tariff suits you best. Ensure you read the terms and conditions and make sure you check for tariffs that aren't going to fluctuate too much. Once you have selected one, contact the new energy supplier Singapore and say you'd like to sign up. They will be able to help you through the process and better yet, they will contact your old supplier for you.

What happens next?

Once your new supply is confirmed, your old company will send you a closing bill and all you have to do is pay that off. They may also send you a feedback form to understand why you left and who you switched to, be honest with them, as this may encourage them to drop their prices too!
