We pick you up at your hotel in the San Juan metopolitan at 830am and head west and then south towards the mountain town of Ciales. We travel in the comfort of our Audi Q7 through the Toro Negro rainforest and into the Tres Picachos Rainforest reserve where we arrive at our first stop, the magical and secluded Las Delicias Waterfall. A short hike from the road, Las Delicias will captivate you with it´s unmatched beauty. ️ Beaches, pools, and bodies of water are open, but social distancing of 10 feet is required between groups, and only small groups of people from the same family are permitted to gather. The next morning I continued my drive up into the Guilarte Reserve. The Guilarte Peak is the only one without all the radio tower paraphernalia and has a magnificent view. The owners are prepared for guests and offer parking as well as snacks and cool drinks. It’s worth a visit to explore the unique rock formations even if you don’t venture onto the slide. If you’re looking for an “off the beaten path” activity, this one is for you. Las Paylas Amazing rock formations create a natural water slide that can be accessed, believe it or not, in the backyard of someone’s home. Enjoy a short hike through lush jungle and over a small bridge to a beautiful swimming area on the Rio Mameyes. Septic systems are used to treat and dispose of relatively small volumes of wastewater, usually from houses and businesses located in suburban and rural locations not served by centralized public sewer systems. When Cataño communities flood, overflow discharges from ill-built or damaged septic tanks reach waterways impacting the health of home decor the San Juan Bay and its residents. The septic tank cleanup initiative in Cataño communities involved assessment, outreach, inspection, cleanup, water quality monitoring and feedback collection. The results of the project determined that all the septic tanks evaluated need some type of improvements, repair and/or complete elimination. It’s a great location to get out in nature and enjoy the beauty. The road is long and has many curves but, once there, the effort will be justified. Las Bocas Natural Reserve Committee grew out of the concern to conserve this ecosystem and maintains an active campaign that promotes research and ecotourism to protect the lands. To visit the area, it is recommended to schedule a visit through the local Sierra Club chapter or a local tour provider. La Garganta waterfall is a main attraction in the Canyon. Canon de San Cristobal is an awe-inspiring, 5.6-mile canyon. The crescent-shaped beach of Seven Seas is lined with palm and almond trees that provide shade for a picnic or just to relax. The beach is close to small restaurants and food kiosks. Seven Seas has gazebos, parking, and camping areas, as well as restrooms and showers. After hiking back our next destination was Hacienda Negrón. The definition, in this case, for nowhere is the most beautiful location on the planet. You’ll see in the video that this place is surrounded by rain forest, well taken care of and with great amenities. Trail 2 and Trail 4 on their map are just DRNA maintenance routes — short in and out roads, not really hiking trails. We never did find Trail 10 from their map, and the ranger said not to bother looking for it. Also, their map shows a trail that cuts across from Trail 5 to Trail 9 without having to go on the road. Save yourself a headache and print out our trail map and take it with you. Though there are various forest regions in Toro Negro, all of the hiking trails are located in one area. That would be near the administration office / ranger station on Route 143 KM 32.4 in Villalba. The trail heads northwest along the creek and the trail is abundant with wild flowers. At the end of the trail is Charco La Confesora, a natural "pool", with a waterfall as a backdrop. The return path is the same as the path to the charco as the trail terminates at the charco. This trail is about 0.5 miles long and a low challenge trail. Straddling the centre of the island, the Bosque Estatal de Toro Negro is Puerto Rico’s most alluring forest park. Nearby Jayuya has become the focus of a mini-Taíno revival, andAdjuntas remains a conservative, traditional hill town, though it’s home to Casa Pueblo, a cultural centre and hub of environmental activism. Finally, perched on the western end of the cordillera, sleepy Maricao is enveloped by some of the world’s finest coffee plantations, and is home to the best of the mountain hotels,Hacienda Juanita. The most popular balneario in Fajardo presents its visitors with a placid shoreline that’s ideal for snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, and more. This park is a bird sanctuary and famous for its fine white sandy beaches and the unbelievable crystal-clear water. One thing is guaranteed, you really won’t run out of things to do in Mallorca. Enjoy the old time charm of Port d’Andratx, only a short sail away from our base. Grab drinks and dinner in one of the bars or restaurants along the seafront. There’s something for everyone on a Mallorca boat charter.
