Engaging students to participate in an online and virtual classroom takes a lot of personal effort and mentoring for the teacher as there is no physical presence of the class. We think that today’s generation are all geeks in regards to computers and mobile communication and technologically they are pretty much of fast learners, yet the personal support, nurturing and reassurances are all necessity which the technology will not be able to provide. Hence it is important that teachers evolve also as excellent virtual classroom service providers in India.

Discussions mapping like the web of a Spider – The best way for the teacher is to involve each student in a live discussion in a virtual classroom. The teacher on the other hand can map the discussion like a spider web to show the result with the students.

Getting them involved on the lesson using chat – To measure their level of learning involve the students on a group chat.

Infuse video clippings with audio – The best way to draw the attention of the students is to engage them over a video on the lesson, and start a discussion involving each one of the students.

Let the students attach themselves to a lesson on virtual assignments – Let the students come up with project-based assignments. This will clear the concepts.

Institutions have to train their teaching faculty as smart classroom providers as the trend in India is virtual teaching, and this will be the norm the days to come.
