Your Basic Silver Pens Gift Guide

Posted by damien fleming on March 8th, 2016

This is not surprising as pens and pencils leave behind a highly personal mark on paper – your unique handwriting, which many will say is a reflection of your personality, character and even aspirations.  But before buying the likes of silver pens for yourself as well as for your family and friends, here are a few things that you may want to know first.

Pens Are Great Gifts

Yes, of course, especially when you are giving gold and sterling silver rollerball, fountain, and ballpoint pens to your family and friends.  These are suitable as gifts for momentous occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries and graduations, as well as for special occasions like Christmas Day, Valentine’s Day, and Father’s Day. You can even give pens as a token of gratitude for friends and as gifts to express your affection for loved ones.

But not all pens are suitable as gifts for women and men. Keep in mind that you cannot just pick up pens from a discount store, place two in a box, and wrap it in paper before calling it a good gift.  You have to put yourself in your recipient’s shoes, so to speak, and decide whether you will be happy with your gift or not.

For gifts, you should buy luxury pens without burning a hole in your pockets. You can choose sterling silver fountain pens, rollerball pens, and ballpoint pens, which epitomize affordable luxury. You can then pair it with other items according to the recipient’s gender, such as silver cat jewellery and Silver toothfairy gift for the women and silver cufflinks for men.

Since pens can be such personal implements, you may want to give your recipients gift vouchers instead. You will then give them the opportunity to choose their preferred pens – or better yet, you can observe the pens they use and take your cue from them.

Pen Choosing Tips

If you decide to buy the pens yourself, you can follow these tips to make good choices.

  • Avoid buying too large or too chunky pens since these can affect a person’s natural handwriting. Men, especially those in management positions, prefer the slim and sleek pens since these fit right into their hand and allow them to write in a fluid manner.
  • Buy new pens since so-called vintage pens will likely have signs of use (i.e., damage), such as weak ink sacs and worn nibs requiring more care and attention (i.e., costly repairs). This does not apply to vintage pens collected for their sentimental or historical value.
  • Avoid buying novelty pens as gifts unless these are for pranks and the like. Remember that the pens may likely be used in professional settings so novelty designs are inappropriate.

Of course, don’t forget to have a collection of luxury pens of your own, too!
