For many, answering the question of "where to donate clothes to?" is very easy. You can always find a Goodwill or other local charity that accepts your donation. There are also charities that will accept your clothes in exchange for a small fee. The fees vary depending on the charity and the type of clothing you are donating. However, most charities will take your clothing if it is not worn or damaged. For agency that are wondering what kind of clothes can be donated to, here are some ideas. If you're worried about the weather, the Red Cross is one charity that never sleeps. They have an operations center that provides much needed supplies to people in need. Most of their items are donated to local families or individuals who are in need during the cold weather. If your home is flooded, the Red Cross also has a nice program for flood victims. They have an operational facility in Fort Collins, Colorado where they offer services such as tutoring classes, meal preparation and placement of furniture in damaged homes. There is also agency called Heroes for Hire that is offered in several locations throughout the state of Colorado. This service offers free clothing, toys, house wares and cleaning services to flood victims. For a nominal fee, Red Cross members are able to make donations to these organizations. Hospitals are another good place to consider donating your unwanted clothes. Many hospitals will accept them if you give them a call and tell them that you would like to donate your clothing and that you do not want to leave any of your medical equipment in their care. Hospitals have a lot of equipment to store such as X-Ray machines, stethoscopes, blood bags, and various medical supplies. These items are very expensive and often discarded when discarded, thus donating them to hospitals is a good idea. Hospitals are not the only places that people should consider donating their clothes. Many local organizations and businesses can also help out. You can find many clothing drives, or clothing swaps, in the town of Naperville, Illinois. There is a large group of local businesses that organize on a regular basis where business owners and other individuals can come and swap their used clothing with other business owners in the area for a percentage of the value of the item. There are also some pantries that will take clothing and clean it, then give it away. Other great places to consider donating your clothes are your local schools. The school that you are donating your clothing to may have programs where students can earn money by doing certain tasks such as cleaning, sewing or baking. In some cases, the charities will purchase the clothes at a discount and pay you the difference between retail and wholesale price. Since children at schools spend so much time being creative, these types of charitable activities are a lot of fun for them and are something that teachers appreciate. Many high schools have bands and cheerleaders who will perform for free at school during fundraisers, which can be a lot of fun for both students and parents. In some cases, local charities will even host events at schools, allowing the students to choose food or games for the charity events. There are also some international charitable organizations that do not conduct any type of fundraising, but rather accept donations of any type, including clothes. These types of charities are called the drop off charities. You can contact these types of charities by sending an email or calling their offices with your list of items that you want to donate. In some cases, you can visit the shelters to pick out the clothes that you want to donate. Some shelters will accept any type of clothing, but some only accept certain items, so be sure to ask before donating. There are also some public charity organizations that do not accept clothes, books or DVDs. If you are looking for a place to donate your unwanted items, try searching online. There are many websites that offer help for people who need it in various situations including where to donate clothes or books, how to donate it, and where to find the nearest location for help. For more information on various charities, you can search the web for the charities of your choice.
