Summer is already here in full swing! Whether you have kids in and out of the house or you are welcoming friends and family into your home for summer fun, it’s a good idea to make your home as healthy as possible. From cleaning the house regularly to making sure your air filters are replaced, there are many important steps to take to make sure your home is healthy to live in. Read on for the best tips for summer home cleaning.

1. Dust Ceiling Fans

Ceiling fans are an essential addition in the summer. Making sure your fans are dust-free will make the air easy to breathe and safe for your family. Rid your fans of dirt like dust and mold, by wiping the blades down with wet wipes or dusting them regularly. This way, you'll keep the air cool without polluting your home.

2. Clean the Fridge

Make sure your home cleaning process involves clearing out the fridge. Start by throwing out spoiled food and wiping up any spills. Moreover, make sure your fridge is cooling at a healthy temperature, ensuring that your food is safe to eat. Likewise, be sure to use disinfectant to wipe down all surfaces as this will kill any bacteria that may be living in the fridge.

3. Sweep the Patio

Another important tip for a healthy summer home is keeping the patio clean and tidy. Failing to regularly clean the patio makes it easy for debris from outside to find its way indoors. Make sure your house is dirt- and dust-free by sweeping the patio regularly. Making an effort to sweep daily will keep your outdoor patio as clean as the rest of your home.

4. Refresh the Patio Furniture

Refreshing your patio furniture is another item to add to your summer cleaning list. To clean any outdoor chairs and seating, remove the cushion covers and spray them down with an all-purpose cleaner. Disinfecting the furniture can be done with any general household products including soap, baking soda, or even dish soap if needed. Continue to keep things clean using a fabric cleaner regularly to kill any dirt, bacteria, or dust lingering in the furniture.

5. Change Your HVAC Filters

Amid your summer cleaning, don't forget to change your furnace filters regularly. Regularly changing your HVAC filters will help maintain your HVAC system while ensuring a safe environment for everyone in the home. With a clean air filter, you'll be able to enjoy fresh, breathable air while guaranteeing your AC continues to work during the hottest summer months.

6. Prevent Mold

Preventing mold in your home is another way to keep it clean and clear for the summer. Avoid mold by limiting or reducing humidity levels. Start alleviating the humidity in your home by placing a dehumidifier in your basement, running it on a cycle so that it turns on for 24 hours then off for 24 hours, and increasing air circulation in the area to help dry out damp walls and floors.

7. Clean the Grill

One of the key items to keep in mind for summer cleaning is grill maintenance. Use this opportunity to clean and prep your equipment for grilling season by removing any rust or grease buildup from last year. To clean the grill, soak a sponge in a degreaser and place it on one side of the grill. Turn the grill on low and let it sit for a couple of minutes then start scrubbing away.

Keep the dirt, dust, and bacteria away this summer. Make sure everyone is happy and healthy by using these seven tips to clean your home.
