From the big annual festivities that are held in Disney World to the local festivals that are put on every month, you can always find something to do no matter what time of year it is. In the spring there are beautiful rose gardens, roses are blooming everywhere, and of course the beautiful Florida springs. In June the state parks celebrate mosquito control month and they give out a "mosquito ticket" for every visitor that enters the park and hires a mosquito trap. This makes sure that all of the mosquitoes that normally wouldn't get in have a chance to find their way into a Florida State Park. During the fall there are Halloween special events in Florida that are not necessarily outdoors but spread out over the whole year. There are Halloween parades in Orlando during October and in Jacksonville during Thanksgiving. These parades involve thousands of cars and several thousand volunteers. Some of the events include a costume parade where people dress up as all kinds of characters and mingle with the crowd. Of course the large cities like Miami and Ft. Lauderdale also host large Halloween parades for those living in the city. Spring and summer in Florida are filled with special events to do. In March there is the Florida Peach Festival, a month long festival of peaches, strawberries and other delicious fruits. Other events in Florida in the spring include the Florida Cherry Blossom Festival, and Florida's Orange Blossom Festival. Both of these festivals have their own theme and bring visitors to the various theme parks and beaches to enjoy the various activities and food that are available during the month. The orange blossom festival happens in March and the cherry blossom festival happens in April. These events are filled with tropical music, food, family fun, and local theatrical shows. Other special events in Florida in the summer include things like the Daytona Beach Film Festival, the St. Pete Beach Seafood and Ale Festival, and the Gulf Coast Jazz Fest. The Florida Pan-Fiest is also another special event that happens in the fall. Many people attend this festival in order to get a first-hand look at all of the exotic fish that Florida has to offer. Other special events in Florida in the summer include the Florida Dog Show, which is held annually, and the Florida Tomato Festival. During these festivals you will find many dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes. Springtime in Florida is always exciting with all of the flowers and trees that come up all around the state. In Gainesville, the University of Florida is located right next to campus. florida is actually a great place to go to if you are ever in Gainesville and need some good shopping. You can take your car hire out to the University of Florida and pick up all of your flowers, or you can sit on the curb and have a vegetable and tasty eating experience. There is the Florida Snow Festival in January, as well as the Florida Renaissance Festival held in January. These are both great choices if you love medieval traditions and culture. Some of the special events in Florida in the winter months are the Gulf Coast Wine Country Film Festival, which is held from January to February. This is a four day event featuring top independent films from all over the world. Of course there are also special events in Florida in the summer, including the Jacksonville Zoo's Sea World, the Fun Fest at the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art, and the Orlando Citrus Celebration. Many of these events also happen in March. There are several festivals held throughout Florida during the summertime, including the Florida Jazz and Blues Festival, the Florida Tomato Festival, and the Shrimp Festival in June.
