“Traveling - it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” ~ Ibn Battuta

Leaving behind all the daily chores and going to some new destination is always one of the best ways opted by humans to rejuvenate themselves. From white sand beaches to pristine mountains, the list of travel destinations around the world is simply endless. The New York itself offers a lot of travel destinations, and Long Island is probably one of the most popular ones. While visitors can go to an island at any time of the year, the bulk of tourist influx however is during the summer season, when the weather is most favorable. This is why the island becomes a little too crowded during the summer, but still Long Island accommodations are never a problem. You can make your choice of accommodation reservation based on the number of people you are with and for days that you are going to spend on Long Island. If you are there only a day or two, then Long Island bed and breakfast will prove to be your best bet instead of some luxurious hotel.

Long Island, located in the Atlantic Ocean, constitutes the easternmost point of New York State. The island is 118 miles long and 12 to 23 miles wide and splits into two peninsulas at its ends. At 1, 723 square miles, it is the fourth largest island in the United States and largest outside of Hawaii and Alaska. The island’s terrain features low plateaus and glacial moraine edges. The good thing about the island is its proximity to New York, especially Manhattan. The closeness makes it easier for New Yorkers to travel during weekends just to unwind and relax. Tourist attractions are spread throughout the island. On Long Island’s south shore you will find Jones Beach, Fire Island, the Hamptons and Montauk Point. On the North Fork are the famous wineries and vineyards. Between the forks is picturesque Shelter Island.

Many people want to experience its beautiful beaches but Long Island is also famous for its wonderful museums like Atlantis Marine World Aquarium, where one can witness and appreciate the beauty of marine ecosystem, or visit the summer house of President Theodore Roosevelt.

Long Island is a huge and beautiful place full of almost everything you can think about. Once you are there, it does not really look or feel like an island because you won’t see water unless you are near the coast.
