As it seems today, most companies prefer to run personal background checks on their job applicants in most, if not all, cases where they hire people, and those checks seem to be unavoidable. Let's take a look at the benefits these checks can bring to both employers and employees.

At first glance, it seems as though employers get more benefit from a personal background check performed on their job applicants. Of course, they have the opportunity to re-verify the information that their applicants put in their CVs. And they get criminal, driving, civil records, and other records from the people they hire. In this way, they can hope to avoid incidents such as workplace violence or actions by sex offenders, etc.

But what potential benefits can employees get from a background check performed on them? According to statistics, up to 50 percent of job applicants include false information on their CVs or job applications about themselves. So if you are the one not doing this, you have an obvious benefit on your CV with confirmation of the accuracy of the app data. It is one of the best recommendations you can make about yourself to future employers.

Another benefit of a pre-employment background check is this you can go ahead and do it yourself. Just go and request a personal background check and see what comes up. Sometimes you will find errors in various records about yourself and such errors can cost you a good job if you are not aware of them and do not correct them in time.

Also, if a personal check has been done, you can include it on your CV as an added benefit and market it to your employers. Of course, this doesn't mean they don't double-check your information, but if they find it true, it may be an additional favorable reason for giving you the job.
