Cleaning Tips For The First Timers

Gone are the days of winter and as the spring is arriving most of us make piles and piles of clothes and overstuff our closets with them. It’s about time we do things the way Grown-ups do it. Instead of denting our closet in the process of shoving clothes and laundry, we should dedicate some time in organising our closet and cleaning the dust that has settled in every corner of our house.

“A body at rest will remain at rest unless acted upon by a force.  A body in uniform motion will remain in uniform motion unless acted upon by a force.” - Isaac Newton. In a similar way until and unless we devote some time and apply so force in cleaning the house, the dust will stay settled in.

The first thing you need to do is to gear yourself up to clean and organise everything. Go to the supermarket and buy a pair of cleaning gloves, a mop, cleaning solvent for laundry & cleaning windows, LED etc. and a bandana if you want to look cool while cleaning and don’t want to inhale dust at the same time. Once you are all geared up then it’s time to begin the battle against dust & dirt.

Keep it or leave it for the ones who need it: As soon as the chill is gone, you can start amassing your laundry and clean it or hire laundry services to do the dirty work for you. Once all the laundry is taken care of, you can start sorting each piece of cloth you own. Bundle up the clothes you want to keep on one side and the ones you don’t wear anymore on the other. The clothes that are useless to you could help someone stay warm in the winter so you can donate it to the ones who can actually use it. Now, put the clothes you want to keep in a closet or a suitcase with some moth balls to keep common clothes moth (Tineola Bisselliella) away.

Carpet cleaning: Carpet cleaning could be a tedious job and sometimes it after putting so much effort into if you still don’t get the results that you need. In order to make the job easier you can use a vacuum cleaner or a steam washer and trust me I have used one and it works like magic. If you don’t have a vacuum cleaner then you can hang the carpet somewhere where there’s space and keep beating it up with a stick until the settled dust falls out (Tip: Carpet cleaning should be done outside the house otherwise the dust could spread in the house and make it dirty). On the contrary, you can get your carpet cleaned by dry cleaners or hire carpet cleaning services as professional know better than us.
