You can never talk of Fishing Lincolnshire without mentioning any of the following splendid lakes: Spitfire, Hurricane, Mosquito, Lancaster, Wellington, Halifax and Stirling. If these names sound familiar, then it is because they are names of World War Two bomber aircraft. However, they also happen to be the names of splendid Fisheries in Lincolnshire. Tucked away in the serene remote Tattershall Thorpe village, it is hard to believe that these seven breathtaking lakes were originally abandoned quarry pits. It is amazing that they are now teeming with a variety of fish species.

Spitfire is about 13 feet deep while the other lakes are up to 11 feet. All of them are full of Common, Mirror, Crucian Carp and Ghost, Roach, Rudd,Tench, galore and Ide.The Mosquito is known to be teeming with trout only and is well endowed with Browns and Rainbows as well as Blue Trout, which is said to be very elusive. Actually  rumor has it that nobody has ever caught one. Aged anglers have been put into consideration too since  parking has been availed at peg on each lake, and for those who fancy fishing at night, a caravan club with pitches is available for up to five caravans. Lincolnshire offers more fishing opportunities with plenty of incredible fisheries to choose from. They include Caistor Fisheries’ four ponds (AD) which are teeming with mirror, Brown Trout, Crucian and Fantail Carp, Rudd, Tench, and Perch

There are several reasons why people choose Fishing Lincolnshire for their getaways. If you go a little further just around the Lincolnshire Wolds, you will come face to face with the breathtaking Woodland Fishery, which is a complex made of 5 Lakes and with 100 pegs. This 12 acre wonder is tucked in a serene edge of a natural valley, which is just about 5-minute walk from Spilsby Village. Each lake is equipped with a 4 x 3-foot flagstone platform which eases access, and wheelchair users have also been taken care of with adapted pegs, especially in Elm Lake and Oak Lake.

There is no doubt that Fisheries in Lincolnshire offer some of the most fulfilling holiday destinations for anglers who are out to have a good time and unwind from the busy every day live. Fishing not only offers peace of mind but also trains one to be patient as you wait for fish to take the bait. It offers the best times to introspect and chart one’s next move in life.

All of us deserve a holiday break from the long days at work. It is always a good idea to just go away to some serene place and put all the pressure that comes with everyday’s life, especially from work schedules, behind you as you unwind.
