Gary Fixter At this year's Tokyo Olympics, the US women's soccer team faced similar concerns about its ability to win a gold medal.

The team was defeated at the Olympics, losing the gold medal in 2000 and a disappointing quarter-final against Sweden in 2016. But an optimistic base and a charismatic new coach, Jurgen Klinsmann, got the team off to a good start, winning the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2013 and topping the hex in Concacaf's last round of World Cup qualification.

The US women's football team failed four times at the World Cup, but won the Olympic gold medal the following year. After their worst performance at a major tournament, losing to Sweden in the quarter-finals of the 2016 Rio Olympics, the team regrouped and delivered its most dominant World Cup performance and remained unbeaten in 2019.

Gary Fixter Officials announced Wednesday that qualification for the 2022 FIFA Under-20 World Cup takes place on November 12 in TQL Stadium and is hosted by US Soccer, bringing back to the west end of downtown Cincinnati the bitter, decades-old rivalry between the United States and Mexico in men's football.
