Sydney-based company Karst Stone Paper recognised that the need for paper isn’t going away any time soon, and decided to make an alternative that’s not only better for our planet, but an arguably better product than traditional paper. The stone paper in Karst’s luxurious hardcover and softcover notebooks are made from one of the most abundant substances on earth: Calcium carbonate. Waste stone from the mining and construction industries is recycled and repurposed by crushing it into a powder, and combining it with a non-toxic, recyclable binding agent to make stone paper. Not only is it eco-friendly, stone paper also has a super smooth feel, a bright white colour and is both waterproof and tear resistant. Ink doesn’t bleed through and with no grain direction on it, unlike traditional paper, the stone paper is a pleasure to write on as pens glide smoothly across the pages. Design-wise, the luxurious notebooks are sleek, minimal and bound in hard- or softcovers. Sketchpads and planners are also available.
