\"Panchakarma\" is the most famous detoxification method of \"Ayurveda\", which also aims to restore youthfulness with the help of medicinal oils. This special treatment with medicinal oils and herbal remedies was already described in the ancient Vedic scriptures and was in Kerala Practiced for centuries following the significant works of “Charaka Samhita.” Panchakarma Treatment and Shirodhara are the leading forms of therapy in Indian Ayurveda, and considering the level of transformative detoxification, it is not difficult to understand.

WHAT IS PANCHAKARMA?

Panchakarma includes five natural cleansing methods that detoxify the body intensively and at the same time bring the three doshas Vata, Pitta, and Kapha into balance.

Vamanam (Emesis Therapy or Vomiting) : This process is strictly monitored in the Ayurvedic Healing Village by the well-trained therapists in the Panchakarma Hospital. Vamanam is induced to remove Kapha, which is responsible for excessive phlegm formation. Lung clogging causes recurrent bronchitis, colds, and coughs. Vamana is the best treatment for all Kapha-related diseases, as well as chronic skin conditions.

Virechanam (cleansing): The removal of toxins from the digestive system through the administration of a therapeutic detergent or laxative. Virechanam is a very effective treatment for jaundice and hemorrhoids.

Panchakarma Therapies

Aasthaapana / Niruham: An enema in which Kashaya Vasti is used to combat the Vata dominant disease (Vata occurs mainly in the colon). Vasti involves a herbal concoction that is introduced into the rectum to treat constipation, kidney stones, back pain, sciatica and solve other joint pain.

Anuvaasan: Oil enema: This is given to patients with diabetes, anemia, and obesity. All diseases caused by Vata, such as joint diseases, paralysis, constipation, arthritis, or urinary and reproductive problems can be alleviated by Anuvaasan.

Nasyam: The inhalation of medicinal oils through the nose to loosen excess fluids from the height of the nose, throat, nose, and other areas of the skull. The patient is massaged from the shoulders upwards so that they work up a sweat. A precisely dosed amount of the herbal medicine is poured into the patient\'s nose while the patient is inhaling. Meanwhile, the nose, neck, shoulders, palms, and feet are massaged. This application is particularly helpful for patients with sinus infections, migraines, chronic colds, and clogged lungs. Nasyam is also an effective method in cases of hemiplegia, facial paralysis.

Diet is important both during and after Panchakarma use. After the cleansing process, it is suggested to eat a kitchari (vegetarian dish) as soon as you feel hungry. This diet should be maintained for three to four days, slowly increasing the variety of vegetables and the size of the portion.
