What are the Features of the Most Mature Looking Vans Shoes for Men?

Posted by Millennium Shoes on September 24th, 2021

The year is 1976, and you’re off with your friends to visit your usual skatepark. Each one of you is decked out in full skateboarding gear—a helmet, knee pads, and of course, your well-worn pair of men’s Vans shoes. Forty years later, the image is still the same. Vans has been at the forefront of comfortable yet versatile sneakers for over 50 years!

How are men’s Vans shoes made?

The Vans manufacturing process has stayed more or less the same since the company first started. After all, there’s no reason to fix what’s already perfect, and the process has undoubtedly stood the test of time.

Of course, the most recognizable feature is the rubber sole, or more specifically, vulcanized rubber. Vulcanization allows the tear-resistant material to become even stronger, helping it last longer even after years of use.

Vans’ signature vulcanized rubber undergoes two stages of “baking.” First, it is cured and compressed under high heat and then “steam-baked” after assembly.

Due to the high temperatures needed during the manufacturing process, EVA foam and nylon cannot be used for the shoes. So instead, Vans has opted for materials that can withstand heat, such as the canvas and suede you see on their sneakers today!

The best men’s Vans shoes on the market

  •          Vans Old Skool

Possibly Vans’ most iconic shoe, the Old Skool silhouette is recognizable everywhere. You’ll notice the iconic “jazz stripe” on its side, and chances are, you’ve seen the classic Black/White colorway.

But what makes the Old Skool special is that it’s made of several parts that can be changed to your liking. That’s why you’ll have numerous choices in terms of colors and patterns, such as the Old Skool True White, Navy, and Vallarta Blue/Red!

  •          Vans Classic Slip-On

Another one of Vans’ legendary silhouettes, the Classic Slip-On, is a must-have for anyone who values both comfort and style. As the name suggests, wearing these shoes is as easy as slipping them on!

The shoe features sturdy yet low-profile canvas uppers, padded collars, elastic side accents, and of course, Vans’ signature rubber soles. Like the Old Skool, you can find Slip-Ons in various colors and patterns!
