Ghee storage is all about preserving the freshness of ghee for as long as possible. Ghee has a long shelf life and can be used for several years after it is made.

When it comes to ghee, one of the most frequently asked questions is:

 \"\"

Does ghee need to be refrigerated?

Today, we’ll talk about how to store ghee and when you’ll need refrigeration for it. Ghee is also known as clarified butter since it is prepared by clarifying pure milk butter. This is why ghee is considered as the clarified form of butter, which has had all of the milk particles skimmed away.

Grass-fed cow ghee or pure cow ghee is shelf-stable and does not require refrigeration. Without the milk solids, it has a far longer shelf life than any other dairy product. When it comes to ghee’s shelf life, it can last up to a year, depending on the quality.

When purchasing ghee online for your cooking from Podhini Dairy Products or from others, be sure to check the date of manufacture. Ghee must be refrigerated only if it is of great quality. Shelf life is particularly long for pure ghee made from the milk of grass-fed cows. However, if the ghee is adulterated, it will spoil quickly.

MISTAKES TO AVOID WITH GHEE STORAGE!

Cow ghee does not require refrigeration for long-term storage. However, you must follow a few rules in order to keep it off the best quality.

·         It is better to store ghee in glass or steel manufactured jars rather than plastic ones.

·         Ghee should always be maintained in an airtight container.

·         If it is to be used in cooking, it should be kept at room temperature rather than being refrigerated or frozen.

·         Store your jar in a cool, dark, dry place away from heat and sunshine.

·         Never put your hand in the ghee jar because the pH of your hand will quickly turn the ghee rancid.

Few Things You Must Know About Ghee Storage:

According to Ayurveda, if ghee is manufactured correctly, it should keep its quality for an “indefinite” period of time. It is one of the few edible items that are similar to honey. However, the reality is that today’s contaminated atmosphere and surroundings pale in comparison to the clean nature that prevailed throughout the Vedic period.

So, depending on where the milk comes from and how the ghee is manufactured, the shelf life at room temperature could be anywhere from one to two years. If the ghee isn’t of the highest quality (i.e. expired), it will smell rotten. Also, if the ghee was not correctly prepared, it should begin to mold after a few weeks.
