Do you know that proper cleaning of baby feeding products is very essential to maintain the health of your little one? So, you should take the utmost care while cleaning baby feeding bottles and nipple.

What to buy?

When you buy baby care products online, you should check for the material and design. The feeding bottle design should not have sharp corners that will not be easy to reach out and clean. Plus, the nipple and bottle should be made from child-friendly materials and not have any toxins. It is very important to check that the material is eco-friendly and safe.

The bottle should have a wide mouth that will allow for convenient cleaning. The nipple should be soft squishy and gentle on the baby’s delicate mouth. Your baby will be feeding plenty of times in a day, which means you may have to buy many feeding bottles. Get one each from different brands and models till you find one that’s most comfortable for mom and child.

Why is cleaning baby feeding products so important?

You will be filling the bottle with milk or formula – both are sure to spoil in a short time and can lead to the growth of bacteria and other microbes. So, even if you just rinse and wash bottles, you will not be thoroughly cleaning out the harmful bacteria. If the bottles are not properly cleaned, then your baby may get food poisoning or even infection.

How to clean baby feeding bottles and nipples?

There are two basic steps in cleaning the baby feeding bottles – washing and sanitization

Washing

  • Take a large tub or use the sink
  • Fill it with hot water and dishwashing liquid
  • Put in all the bottles and nipples that you want to wash
  • se a bottle brush to thoroughly clean the insides of the bottle
  • Get a nipple brush to remove any kind of sediment in the nipple
  • Check the nipple hole to see nothing is lodged there, if so remove using the brush
  • Don’t use any harsh chemicals or materials to clean the baby feeding bottles

Sanitization/Sterilizing

Sterilize the bottles to ensure that there are no harmful microbes lodged inside. There are two options – microwave and bottle sterilizers. Both work to kill the microbes and deodorize the bottle. The dry air will also completely dry the bottle insides so that there is no remaining water droplets when you fill the bottle again.
