The term ”Law” refers to one of our constitution’s most important elements. And the law is India’s exclusive legal education, with all those who complete it earning the title of Lawyer. LLB, BBA LLB, LLM (1 Yr), and LLM (2 Yr) are the four professional law programs offered at Usha Martin University. The Indian Bar Council (BCI) has given its approval to all of these programs. These programs are structured in such a way that students gain a thorough understanding of practically all facets of the law through an in-depth study of the topic. However, the law has long been regarded as one of the most prestigious and well-respected academic disciplines. For most of us, it is the initial step toward a career in the legal field, accompanied by the additional study and training required to become a practicing solicitor or barrister.

Law, frequently known as legal studies, touches practically every aspect of human existence, including business, economics, politics, the environment, human rights, foreign diplomacy, and trade. It’s a well-known fact that the first academic degrees were all related to law. You may expect to study how to deal with some of the most difficult, and often seemingly intractable, issues and concerns in today’s society and values as a law student. Legal degrees are an excellent way to prepare for a variety of professional positions, as well as for life in general since they provide a foundation through which we explore and appreciate other nations and cultures.

In India, the conventional style of legal education is a three-year Bachelor of Law Degree i.e. LLB Course delivered by almost all law institutes. This typical degree program covers a variety of legal topics. While a BBA LLB is an integrated legal degree program that combines business studies and legislative law in a single program. Its curriculum includes both management and legal topics. An LLM, or Master of Law, is a postgraduate legal degree that enables students to obtain expertise in a specific topic of law, such as tax or international law.

Some Indian law universities and colleges often offer a five-year integrated degree. The integrated model, as the name implies, combines two streams, one of which is the law and the other of which can be Arts, Management, Science, or Commerce. If the second stream is arts, the degree will be BA.LL.B, and if the second stream is commerce, the degree will be B.Com. LL.B. Therefore,  subjects from both streams are covered in this combined degree. Generally, national law schools provide a combined BA LL.B degree. Other integrated programs, such as BBA LLB and B.Sc. LLB is currently being offered by a few universities. Subjects such as English, Political Science, Economics, and Sociology are taught alongside law subjects in the BA.LLB program. Such subjects are normally taught until the third year of the degree, after which solely law courses are taught. BBA LLB, B.Com. LLB, and B.Sc. LLB integrated degrees that comprise management, commerce, and science-oriented disciplines, as well as Law subjects.

Legal Courses have been developed to acquire a small piece of the pie as the Indian education system shifts away from technical courses and moves toward professional ones. Many of us may still be hesitant to risk our professional prospects, while others may believe that the law is just for those who have inherited it from their ancestors. Legal education in India is regulated by the BCI (Bar Council of India (BCI), there are now two kinds of legal education: a three-year Bachelor of Laws degree and a five-year integrated BBA-LLB Law degree. The objective and scope of these two models are quite different. The law degree prepares you for a plethora of lucrative job opportunities in a variety of sectors including corporations, law firms, IT firms, administrative services, corporate houses, etc. UMU is an ideal destination to gain competitive advantages with a law degree, whether you want to expand your knowledge, build global contacts, or begin a career in the legal profession.

In this article I will discuss a few key points of law programs that every applicant should be aware of are listed below:

1. Earning Potential

Whether you like it or not, money is a necessity in the contemporary world, and although the legal profession may shift in the digital era, becoming a lawyer is a stable source of income. In India, law professionals earn an average annual salary between INR 4 to 6 Lakhs, and it increases with experience, work area, organization, location, and job profile.  These professionals can work in different industries like Law Firms, Government Agencies, MNCs, Banks, Litigation, Judicial Bodies, NGOs, and many more.

Even though there are many doubters about the career prospects for law students and young lawyers in the twenty-first century, a recent study by professors from Harvard Law School and Rutgers Business School found the exact opposite. According to a poll of nearly 34,000 law graduates, they would earn 1,000,000 dollars more throughout their careers than those with other bachelor degrees. It revealed that the earnings of middle-aged law graduates often continued to climb at a period when the earnings of most other professionals had steadily declined.

2. Social aspects

Studying law provides a wealth of chances both during and after university. Research, writing, and learning skills will serve you well later in life. Not everybody who studies law goes on to practice law. You can work for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and put your hard-won abilities to good use by helping to make the world a better place. Charities, environmental organizations, and governments all require smart people who have studied law. As an international human rights lawyer, imagine how much you might help the underprivileged!

3. Transferrable skills

Former lawyers and law graduates can work in a wide range of sectors, including politics, media, human resources, business, and marketing. Furthermore, social work, business, HR, and marketing were among the most often reported employment for students with a law degree. Law educates you on how to talk, read, write, and research, all of which are valuable talents.

Finally, let us be clear: every community needs law because it acts as a code of conduct for its citizens. Legal education benefits society by providing law students with general and cultural education, preparing them to be lawful citizens. The importance and relevance of democratic culture are instilled in pupils through legal education.
