Shanghai: China urges people to wear masks and gloves when opening a letter, especially from abroad, after the authorities suggest the first case of the omicron coronavirus virus variant found in Beijing can be through the Canadian package.

The authorities vowed to increase the disinfection of foreign letters and insist on handling the post staff fully vaccinated.

Preventive measures came less than three weeks before the capital opened the winter Olympics and as several cities worked to stick the new plague of Coronavirus infection.

\"Minimize the purchase of foreign goods or receive letters from abroad,\" said Broadcaster State CCTV on Monday at the social media post.

\"Be sure to protect yourself during the handover face to face and use masks and gloves; Try to open the package outdoors.\"

Health officials said people found infected with the Omicron variant opened packages from Canada which had been transferred through the United States and Hong Kong and transmission through packages \"could not be ruled\".

This case highlights the importance of \"personal defense\", CCTV said.

Similar suggestions on how to handle packages, not only those from abroad, made by the National Health Commission on the official Wechat account and reset by authorities in the city of Shanghai and Nanjing.

China has become an outlier in emphasizing that Covid-19 can be transmitted through cold chain imports such as frozen meat and fish, although the World Health Organization has played risk, and has encouraged narratives through the media of the virus country there abroad before it was found at the end of 2019 in the center Wuhan city.

In recent weeks, China has struggled against the resurrection in some cases in several cities, some of which are from the omicron variant which is very transmitted. On Tuesday, 127 new local cases were reported with confirmed symptoms.

The Post Country Bureau issued a notification on Monday which states that international letters must be disinfected after reaching China, and the staff who process and provide international letters must accept Covid-19 vaccination and booster.

China Post has also reminded recipients of overseas letters to disinfect the content \"on time\" with stickers inserted on the package.
