Logos in pixel art style

Posted by Harber Candelario on January 19th, 2022

Some time ago I published an article Pixel art and web design with a selection of different Internet projects made in this style. So, in the process of searching for the relevant sites of our site, there are many different materials related to pixel art - logos, manuals for drawing objects, illustrations, etc. I hasten to share one of these finds today - these will be examples of logos in the pixel art style. Thanks for the materials to the 8bit decals blog with the motto 8-bit will never die :) I just designed all this in my classic style for such posts. See more on Pixelart123.de.

You can probably say that pixel art is quite good for logos. On the one hand, the designer seems to be a little creatively limited by the need to work exclusively with pixels. On the other hand, it makes him think creatively, pay attention to details and come up with something simple. Much depends on the color - with the help of different combinations, you can create bright, catchy logos. Most often, all the colors of the rainbow are used at once. An unsuccessful selection of colors, on the contrary, can make the logo faded and inexpressive. The background is also important - not every logo will look good on every substrate.

Well, now let\'s move on to pixel art logos.

Very often, these logos are presented on a white or light background - one of the options for successful implementation, when the logo itself stands out well. Pixel art can be used only partially as an element of the idea, or the entire picture is entirely made in this style.

Too simple implementations of pixels do not always look good. In general, such logos do not necessarily use a square pixel shape - there are other implementations.

Bright logos, where pixels of all the colors of the rainbow are used, are usually placed on a black background - this creates a good contrast. It is interesting when pixels form an object (cup, heart, tree), and not just applied to texts or abstract elements.

Pixels for an image can be used in small or large quantities. In the first case, a very simple implementation is obtained (Volaris, Volcanum) with some abstract objects from pixels. Sometimes the logo is a great example of pixel art (Bitmap, Byteme, Pixalio).

In general, almost any logo can be implemented in the pixel art style - pixels can only be an additional part of the logo, used for text, an object, emphasize the main idea and / or the company name itself. Everything is limited only by the flight of the designer\'s imagination and his professional skills.

But this is not an easy path, it seems to me - in order to get the perfect logo, you need to come up with a really interesting idea. There will be no less problems with the selection of a color solution. In short, the style is quite specific and I would think twice before using it. Although, with successful implementation, an excellent result is obtained - some of the logos presented above are an example of this.
