3 Simple Ways To Make Your Business Environmentally Friendlier - shredded paper

If there was any year in recent memory when huge numbers of us were likely to be put in mind of the need to be more conscientious and responsible about our carbon footprints, it was surely 2021.
Last year was, of course, the year of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, otherwise known as COP26. But even putting aside the news agenda, many of us – and the brands we engage with – have felt a greater urgency lately to better protect the only planet Earth we have.
Are all the sustainability-boosting changes you could make ones that would massively compromise the day-to-day operations of your business? The short answer is: no. Below are just three measures that your firm might look to adopt during 2022 to ensure you are playing your part.

Minimise how much energy you use
Whatever your business might presently be doing to cut down its energy usage, there will almost certainly be further steps you could take. 2022 might be the year your business goes much further than simply trying to ensure your staff members never leave the light on in an empty room.
You may, for instance, upgrade your office’s appliances and devices to more modern and energy-efficient alternatives. Or you could invest in timers or sensors to help ensure users of your buildings don’t have to ‘go out of their way’ to switch things off when not in use.
Cut down return rates
Many of the purchasers of our own quality shredded paper here at Shredded-Paper.co.uk are owners of ecommerce stores – and if you are one of them, you will probably be all-too-familiar with the high rates of product returns that can be common during the New Year period.
So, for 2022, why not vow to try to drive down return rates at your store, in ways that don’t anger or inconvenience customers? Returns aren’t just costly and time-consuming for stores to deal with – they’re bad for the environment. There are much better ways to help minimise returns, though, than potentially alienating your customers by making your returns policy difficult to understand or take advantage of.
Instead, we’re suggesting such steps as providing as much detail as possible in your online product images and descriptions to ensure shoppers make the best-informed decisions, and being specific about sizing if this is something especially likely to lead to returns.
Switch out your current packaging materials for more sustainable alternatives
Sustainable packaging isn’t just some ‘chic’ thing for a business to use these days – it’s increasingly expected by customers, who will often judge the given brand accordingly.
We’re proud to be playing our own part here at Shredded-Paper.co.uk in making it easier for businesses to switch from bubble wrap or conventional tissue paper to an alternative that looks great and is gentler on the planet. We offer quality shredded paper that is reusable, recyclable and biodegradable, while still providing excellent and – in many cases – superior performance to whatever paper or packaging product you might have previously used.
Our commitment in this regard extends to delivering your shredded paper to you in recycled or repurposed cardboard packaging. And if you can make use of such packaging itself for your own business’s sales or other aspects of your firm’s operations, we would call that a ‘win win win’ for you, us, and the environment.
We take the ethics of what we do extremely seriously, and we hope you do, too – after all, protecting the planet is something that benefits us all. We would therefore be delighted to accept your orders for quality shredded paper in any of a broad range of colours and colour mixes during 2022 – and don’t forget that delivery is free to most mainland UK postcodes.
