There are also many well-known resorts, including Squaw Valley and Heavenly Mountain nearby. 

One of the advantages to living on the Nevada side is the tax breaks. Property taxes tend to be less than California's, but they are county specific. Also, there is no personal income tax in Nevada. However, to take advantage of the tax incentives, you must make Nevada your principal place of residence.
