Arm Lift Surgery ? Get Rid of Your ?Wings? and Gain New Confidence

The arms are one of the most common problem areas, especially for women. No matter how many dumbbell curls or push-ups you do the fat or skin your triceps just keep sagging, thus giving you those dreaded ‘wings.’ You don’t have to hide your arms in long sleeves all your life. Get an arm lift surgery and wear tank tops with pride!

The goal of arm lift surgery-also known as Brachioplasty-is to reduce the arm’s circumference and tighten it all around. It’s a popular procedure that is often paired with liposuction; liposuction removes the fat, and the sagging skin is removed by Brachioplasty.

During an arm lift surgery, an incision is made along the inner part of the arms, extending right down to the elbow. The surgeon then proceeds to remove the fat and skin-dermis. To close the incision, the surgeon performs aesthetic suturing. The operation time will usually take about an hour for each arm. General anaesthesia is administered and patients will have to stay at least 1 night at the hospital. It is common for patients to experience discomfort or pain between 3 to 7 days after the surgery. Take note that you might get some bruising and swelling as well as temporary numbness and skin irregularities on your arms, too.

You will need to take time off work for two to three weeks, depending on how fast you recuperate. You also won’t be allowed to do extraneous activities like jogging and going to the gym for about a month or two. The final scar of your procedure will start to show around 12th week after the surgery. Don’t worry it should improve in the next 18 months.

Not everyone is a good candidate for arm lift surgery. To find out if this procedure is ideal for you, contact a cosmetic surgeon. You will be required to come in for a consultation so the surgeon can discuss alternatives in case arm lift surgery is not the way to go.

During the consultation, be sure to bring up anything that might be of concern to you. Ask how many times the surgeon has administered arm lift surgeries. You may also request for a portfolio to see before and after photos of previous patients. Observe the clinic and ask about the nurses and staff. During your recovery, they should be available to help you should any complications occur.
