DevOps in various domains – How does DevOps solve the problem?

Posted by techmobius on July 1st, 2022

Currently, "DevOps" is the hottest new term in the IT sector. Collaboration between teams and a set of DevOps technologies that continuously eliminate waste from business processes, resulting in ever-improving value delivery to end-users, is the culture of DevOps tools.

Using the word DevOps across a variety of industries suggests that it's no longer only a tech-industry phenomenon. Aws DevOps and Azure DevOps pipelines are commonly used in a wide range of industries.

However, DevOps and its methods are increasingly being adopted outside of the IT industry.

DevOps is being used in a variety of industries, and we will provide some examples of DevOps usage in various industries.

DevOps in the Public sector

The United States government's agency NASA oversees the country's civilian space program as well as aeronautics and aerospace research. NASA had to migrate approximately 65 applications from a typical hardware-based data center to the cloud in order to improve agility and save money. Many apps were transferred in their exact form to the cloud due to the short turnaround time. With several AWS accounts and various virtual private clouds (VPCs), it was difficult to manage the environment. Making sure that every server administrator had access to all servers, or even basic patching was a major hassle.

With the help of Ansible Tower, the cloud environment could be managed and scheduled effectively. NASA's AWS system can now be better-managed thanks to the Ansible Tower.

NASA was able to better serve its customers because of the Tower. Teamwork has also improved because of this.

DevOps in Banking

To streamline and re-architect its critical payment processing center, the Royal Bank of Scotland struggled greatly. RBS needed to integrate the new financial institution's systems into its own. A new strategic transaction hub and 43 functional upgrades were already being implemented by RBS in the process of transferring its own systems to this hub. In effect, the expense and complexity of running four distinct message centers doubled.

Integration and service virtualization were part of the solution. Instead of needing to develop and manage costly and time-consuming physical test environments, these software tools enabled the creation of an end-to-end virtual environment.

Over 80 interfaces and subsystems involved in RBS' trading activities might be automated via the use of the solution at their disposal. An agile development method was made possible because of this. The RBS obtained significant advantages from the integration and service virtualization solution in only three years.

Insurance

New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Group (NJM) needed to speed up software delivery in order to match delivery methods with business requests for updated solutions as they modernized key technology platforms. The volume and pace of work grew steadily each day, and they rapidly realized that they couldn't keep up with the demand.

Additionally, this huge insurance firm was concerned about ensuring compliance without adding additional, time-consuming procedures. NJM need a more dependable method for streamlining software deployments while still maintaining compliance controls.

Using deployment automation, NJM was able to speed up and standardise software delivery while also making it easier to show compliance. To help NJM grow, this project cut operating costs and simplified deployment procedures.

Deployment times have been drastically reduced. Non-production deployment may be completed in minutes rather than days. Production deployments are 30 to 50 per cent quicker than they were before.

The firm used to manage its releases manually a few years ago. Deployments are now planned, continuous, and self-service. It was able to deploy software without the need for highly-trained technicians

Conclusion

Azure DevOps pipelines can have a positive impact on even the most non-technical businesses, as this list demonstrates. DevOps aims to eliminate fragmented working practices inside organizations. With this purpose in mind, one may accomplish their objectives more quickly and with less effort.
