How to Drape a Traditional Banarasi Saree?

Step 1: Choose the color of the underskirt according to the color of your banarasi saree.

Step 2: Hold the opposite part of the pallu and tuck it around your waist. Tuck gently to cover the underskirt.

Step 3: Now, bring the pallu piece from the backside of your waist and make pleats through it. Hold the pleats by loosening the other part of the pallu. Once the pallu is ready, adjust the pallu to put on the shoulder. Note that the length of the free end of the pallu is 90 cm (between the waist and the shoulder).

Step 4: Fix the Anchal (pallu) with the blouse at the intersecting point through a safety pin to hold the anchal folding.

Step 5: Hold the border part of the pallu and adjust it to move for the next step of draping the saree.

Step 6: Hold the border portion and fix it with the other end border portion tucked earlier in the waist through another safety pin.

Step 7: Bring the remaining parts of the saree to make pleats on the front. Please note to make pleats of equal length to save spoiling your front look. Finally, tuck the pleats inside the waist.

Note: Be clear about the folds that you do. It should not dismantle on other folds. All should be in one sequence.
