Connecting natural gas with your everyday life can be challenging because it doesn't live near you and enter your life in person.

Nevertheless, you are likely to come in contact with a variety of natural gas-based products throughout your day.

A Gas linking is a service connection to your on-site storage tank connecting you to the natural gas distribution system. Creating this Gas linking is to provide a customer with natural gas.

Or allow the customer to withdraw natural gas from their storage tank, or both. Let's talk about how you can get the gas linking quickly. We’ll run through a few of the major steps with you.

Apply online

Your home may not be in the service area for natural gas. But it doesn't hurt to check! There are plenty of things to do before you give up. You can check if gas is available to your home online. Just remember to complete the application, accept the terms and conditions, and provide your meter location and contact details.

For a natural new gas connection delivery, it's in your best interest to apply on time. The availability of natural gas in your area is not guaranteed, though it may be available to your house. Here's how to check: Provide your application online, accept the terms & conditions, provide the meter location, and provide contact details.

Pay for connection works

Now, before you start your installation, there are a few things you need to do. So, when you have a building connection, it's time to get your GPRN sorted. You'll need to take a few steps to get a gas point connection. First, contact your gas supplier by phone to arrange payment for your link. Next, organize the date and time of your installation.

Finally, once this is all sorted, take note of your GPRN (Gas Point Registration Number). For any additional details, speak with your gas supplier.

Connection works completed

You can get a grant to help with the cost of the gas network installation. But you have to be available for the appointment, provide access to your property at the appointed time, and make sure you have your RGI ready.

To install the required external gas pipes and meter housing, Gas Networks Australia will be coming to your house. Be present for the appointment, provide access, and know that your RGI is ready to go.

RGI completes internal work

If you're in the process of building or renovating your home, you need to plan what appliances you need carefully. A qualified RGI (Registered Gas Installer) will be able to connect your devices to the gas supply and complete any other work that may be required, such as installing gas pipes.

Once the work is completed, the RGI will supply you with an RGI conformance certificate. So, The RGI will finish the agreed-upon work on the house, including any gas lines and appliances. Once the work is complete, they'll present you with an RGI conformity certificate. What to do: Choose your appliances. And once you are done, you will receive an RGI conformance certificate.

Choose your gas supplier

You may not have realized it, but it's time to choose your gas supplier. So, you can do this by selecting your preferred supplier and ensuring you have your GPRN at hand. You know you should switch to your gas supplier, but how do you go about it? It's time to take the first step. What to do: Get your gas supplier's GPRN.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You’ll need to be present at home during the gas connector’s arrival, but don’t worry much. First, make sure you have your Certificate of Conformance (Cert 1) completed by your Regulated Gas Installer. Remember that this document is only valid for 12 months from the date you receive it, so you’ll want to keep it with you. Next, make sure the meter box is accessible and contains your Cert 1. Lastly, make sure the gas connector stays by your side when they leave. Also, remember that when installation is completed, you should contact your Regulated Gas Installer again.
