Liverpool Vs Fulham: Fulham unlikely to meet West Ham United's estimation of Issa Diop

Issa Diop, a defender for West Ham United, must be purchased for £20 million by newly promoted Liverpool Premier League team Fulham. The Evening Standard reports that Fulham has been asked for £20 million to sign West Ham United defender Issa Diop. The Frenchman has slipped down the list at London Stadium and may be leaving this summer in Football Premier League.

Diop transferred from Toulouse to West Ham in 2018 for a then-club-record transfer fee of £22.5 million. In his first two seasons with the Hammers, the centre-back was a regular, but he steadily lost favour, appearing in only 31 Football Premier League games during the previous two years. Additionally, centre defender Nayef Aguero, who recently relocated from Rennes, might further cut into Diop's playing time.

Fulham has been connected to the 25-year-old as a result, although West Ham is looking to return the majority of the money they spent on him four years ago. After dominating the Championship standings the previous season, the Cottagers were promoted to the Premier League. They want to strengthen in some areas, particularly the defence, and regard Diop as a good choice because he has four years of experience playing in the English Liverpool Premier League.

According to a report in the Evening Standard, Fulham's £12 million offer for the defender was turned down because West Ham is still unwilling to lower its asking price. The story makes no mention of Marco Silva's team's potential comeback with a better offer. Two players have already been signed by the Cottagers this summer.  Joao Palinha, a defensive midfielder, signed from Sporting Lisbon, and Andreas Pereira, an offensive midfielder, joined Fulham from Manchester United.

The next item on their agenda is to add a central defender, and Diop, who only has one year left on his West Ham deal, is one candidate. Additionally, it was reported that Manchester United was keeping an eye on the defender, who has played 118 times for West Ham in various tournaments.

Despite Fulham's interest, West Ham still believes it can charge a price of close to £20 million for defender Issa Diop for the Football Premier League. The Hammers, who are looking to reclaim the majority of the then-club-record price they spent to acquire Diop from Toulouse in 2018, rejected the newly promoted team's initial bid of £12 million last week.

Diop has fallen down the pecking order under David Moyes, who also has the first-choice centre-back duo of Kurt Zouma and Craig Dawson at his disposal with the acquisition of Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd from Rennes earlier this summer and the return to fitness of Angelo Ogbonna. West Ham will play friendlies against Boreham Wood and Ipswich Town this evening to complete their preseason schedule. For more to know about Fulham Vs Liverpool Tickets Click here.

As was the case for last week's victory against Servette in Geneva, Moyes' first-team squad is expected to be split evenly between the two games and augmented by players from the junior team. Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen, two West Ham players who are from other countries, won't be playing because they only started training again on Monday following lengthy summer vacation.

But recently acquired midfielder Flynn Downes, who moved from Swansea last week, will play a part in the squad that goes to Portman Road to take on Ipswich, whose academy he graduated from. According to ExWHUemployee, West Ham defender Issa Diop has been included on the squad sheet for the preseason matchup against Boreham Wood on Tuesday (12 July). Diop is "set to play" for today's game, according to Ex, who posted on his Patreon on July 12. This raises doubts about Diop's future.

Diop has been linked to a summer transfer to Fulham, but Ex believes the Cottagers "must still be not meeting" the club's reasonable asking price of about £20 million for the player. Ex wrote: “The team sheets show that Issa Diop is set to play at Boreham Wood and therefore Fulham must be still not meeting our asking price of approximately £20m for the player.” On July 7, The Daily Mail claimed that the Cottagers had submitted a proposal of about £20 million after their original offer was rejected.

Only a few elements need to be worked out for the transfer of the defender, according to dependable journalist Julien Laurens, who writes for ESPN and other publications. Therefore, David Moyes' decision to select him in the preseason friendly comes as a huge shock. If the defender is thus close to leaving the team, Moyes wouldn't have taken a chance on him in a friendly because he may suffer an injury that would jeopardise the transfer.

Diop won't necessarily be sold this summer, though. Nayef Aguero, a French defender, has boosted the Hammers' defence, and he may be allowed to go. Diop has played more than 120 games for the London club since he joined in 2018. The club would do well to get the money back for Diop, but it appears Fulham have not yet reached the price demanded by the Hammers.

The Athletic has learned that Fulham has submitted a second bid for West Ham United defender Issa Diop. After their initial offer of £10, million-plus add-ons was turned down, the newly promoted team made a second offer of £12 million-plus add-ons for the 25-year-old. The player is expected to sign a five-year contract with Fulham for Football Premier League.

The player from the French team Lyon is also attracting a lot of interest, and Diop is reportedly contemplating his options. Diop, who joined West Ham from French club Toulouse in the summer of 2018, spent his first two seasons in east London as a regular starter for the Liverpool Premier League team.

However, he has found it more difficult to get first-team appearances during the last two seasons. He played in just 13 Football Premier League games last year because manager David Moyes chose Craig Dawson, Angelo Ogbonna, and Kurt Zouma instead. Nayef Aguero, who West Ham acquired from Rennes last month, knocked Diop even down on the priority list.

Following this week's completion of the five-year move of Portugal international Joao Palhinha from Sporting Lisbon, Diop might become Fulham's second acquisition of the summer. The Athletic claimed on Tuesday that Fulham and Manor Solomon of Shakhtar Donetsk are nearly done with their long discussions. The 22-year-old winger has consented to sign with the organisation on a 12-month loan.
