A STUDY CONDUCTED BY PIZUNA, FOUND OUT THAT AN AVERAGE ADULT SPENDS 34 DAYS IN A YEAR IN BED AWAKE

A study conducted by Pizuna in a sample size of 2200 UK Adults, found out that an average adult spends 34 days in a year in bed awake.
Did you know ideally, 1/3rd of a person’s life is spent sleeping?
High-quality sleep makes you healthy, and feel well-rested, rejuvenated, and recharged. But, on average adults in the UK spend an additional 16 hours in bed each week awake, equating to almost 35 days per year. If we calculate based on the hours, it is approximately 832 hours each year.
On Weekdays; UK adults spend 25 mins awake in bed in days’ time and around 105 mins awake in bed at night whereas on weekends the time span increases and is up to 50 mins awake in bed during the day.
When unable to sleep, approximately 67% of the adult population spend their time playing and surfing on phone. Where 62% of the adult population choose to watch TV or movies.
These habits of spending time more often in front of screens make them anxious or are the main reason for sleep anxiety. The harmful light from electronic devices directly affects the brain and makes the sleep cycle poor for the person.

The poor sleep quality and the general well-being of a person state the overall sleep health. A disorder like insomnia, sleep apnea, and fatigue are the general symptoms seen in a person and are can lead to sleep anxiety. Adults having heavy meals before bedtime can suffer from sleep loss due to digestion issues.
These simple solutions can help prevent sleep anxiety:
Starting by lessening the time spent on electronic screens. There are some healthy ways such as practicing breathing techniques at night or low-intensity stretching exercises work better for a peaceful sleep. Similarly, brisk walking after dinner reduces the chances of indigestion and helps in getting uninterrupted sleep. There are activities that involve less physical exertion such as reading or just having a head massage for soothing sleep throughout the night.
