Eight Ways to Be Happy

We all have days when we wake up and immediately feel sad. There may be no particular reason, but we just don't feel like smiling. If this happens to you, you are not alone. Hundreds of people feel sad every day. Fortunately, there are many techniques that we can follow to feel happy instantly. Below are eight ways to be happy. Read them and try them the next time you feel sad.

1. Before you even open your eyes in the morning, make sure you think of something that makes you smile. It could be someone, a joke, or something funny happened to you or a family member. Positive thinking takes you on the path of happiness.

2. One important tip on how to become happy is to take the time in the morning to make yourself look and feel good. Heading out the door without breakfast and not being prepared properly only adds to the negative mood and puts you under stress. Make sure you give yourself enough time every morning to get up, get dressed and eat properly.

3. Don't take life so seriously. Yes, we get only one chance in life, but we don't need to take it so seriously. Don't spend all your time focusing on how you can be happy. Having fun, laughing and joking with yourself and with your friends and family will make you happy instantly. And as a bonus, you spread the joy and help make them feel happy too.

4. Appreciate the good things in life. It's something we all hear, but it's true - "there's always someone worse than you". Take a step back and look at the good things in your life. Pay attention to and appreciate those things.

5. Spend time socialising. Many people work so hard that they have no social life. This leads to a lack of happiness. Take time to balance your work and social life. Meet friends and go for coffee (even during lunch break). If you are feeling sad about not spending enough time with your family, make sure you organise quality time with them at least one day a week or in the evening.

6. The best way to becoming happier with yourself is to eliminate those negative thoughts. To deal with them you have to recognize them first, after dealing with them you should try to convert them into positive thoughts.

7. A healthy body and mind makes you happy. Eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise is one of the most important ways to be happy.

8. Get good sleep and rest. No one can feel happy if they are constantly tired. Lack of energy can make you feel lethargic and unhappy. That's why it is important that you get a good night's sleep and replenish your energy reserves for the day ahead.

If you follow the happiness tips above, you should feel at least a little happier in everyday life. No one says you have to smile and be happy round the clock, but happiness is actually much better than feeling sad.
