Football World Cup: Football World Cup final venue to stage Lusail Super Cup on September 9

The spectacular venue, which is in the innovative Lusail City, 15km north of main Doha, will host games during every stage of the Qatar Football World Cup 2022, starting with the Group C clash between Argentina and Saudi Arabia (KSA) on 22 November.

Nasser Al Khater, the CEO of, the Football World Cup in Qatar 2022, said: “Lusail Stadium will offer a stunning stage for this year’s Football World Cup final the biggest and most respected football game on the planet. Sustainable building methods were used during the construction of Lusail Stadium. Football World Cup: QBS boosts the power of mobile blood donation units

Hamad Medical Corporation’s Qatar Blood Services (QBS) has enhanced the ability of mobile blood contribution units to meet the growing demand for blood and blood goods and in the planning of Football World Cup 2022, told a senior official.

QBS has included three new mobile blood contribution units which are well-equipped and have more power to collect and store blood. Specified Executive Director, Transfusion Medicine Division, Department of Laboratory Medicine, and Pathology at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Dr. Aysha Ibrahim Al Malki, while talking to The Peninsula. QBS is the sole person for the collection and supply of blood and blood goods for all hospitals and healthcare hospitals in Qatar. At present QBS has five mobile donor groups.

“With the growing need for blood and blood goods and in the planning of Football World Cup in Qatar 2022, QBS has included three new mobile donor cars that are equipped with state-of-the-art gear, and power to host a bigger number of donors,” told Dr. Al Malki. 

Also, the QBS compilation center has just relocated to a spacious location that presents globally important services following standards set by certification bodies Association for the Development of Blood and Biotherapies and the College of American Pathologists. 

“The staff at QBS are professionals in this field and are devoted to ensuring that every donor is well focused, and they are happy to react to any queries and demands,” stated Dr. Al Malki.

According to Dr. Al Malki, QBS has a vast number of steadfast voluntary donors from a different culture. 

“Our blood supporters comprise personal donors, community-based associations, government ministries, political missions, public and private organizations, and the Qatar-equipped forces. They have always stood by QBS and backed in the aim to deliver blood to those in need. We are always thankful to our donors,” she stated. 

 Dr. Al Malki elicited that to mark World Blood Donor Day 2022 (WBDD), QBS coordinated eleven blood collection campaigns between June 14 and June 17, under the World Health Organization WBDD slogan Donating blood is an act out of solidarity; Join the effort and save lives.

To be competent to donate blood, a donor must be nutritious, adult not less than 17 years of age, with no major chronic illness or previous illnesses, with a body weight of not less than 50 kg and hemoglobin level of not less than 13 g for male and 12.5 g for female. On the day of the gift, the donor must be free of signs of fever and coughing, or any other disease and they must have sufficient hours of sleep.
