Instant Marquees: The Easiest Solution for Outdoor Occasions

If you are hosting an outdoor event, you must be prepared to deal with potential changes in the weather, be it the heat of the sun or a sudden downpour of rain. Attending an event is often a significant investment in both time and money therefore you need to maximise the opportunities when you are there. Without a good marquee in an outdoor environment, you are likely to be totally at the mercies of the weather. A marquee is a large tent that is commonly used for commercial or social functions. If you will be hosting outdoor events regularly, you should consider investing in a custom marquee, custom branded with your organisation or company name/logo printed on it, making it a very effective promotional tool whenever and wherever it may be deployed.

Instant marquees are simple and easy to set up. When considering to purchase one, here are some things you need to consider:

•             Floor plan – You want your entire space to be covered with a marquee to ensure the comfort of event-goers as well as for the protection of your products or event material on display. The larger the marquee, the stronger the framework must be. Quality instant marquee frames are constructed from commercial grade aluminium making them heavy duty and some even industrial-grade.

•             Marquee fabric – Aside from the frame, you need also to focus on the quality of the fabric, used for the marquee roof and sidewalls. Premium fabrics should be waterproof and fire retardant. Just as important is the need to provide 100% UV protection with a rating of UPF50+. Ensure the fabric has good printing characteristics allowing the options of both digital-colour and screen-printing.

•             Sidewalls – If you wish to provide total protection for your event site area, add sidewalls to your marquee. Quality sidewalls are usually made from the same fabric as the marquee roof. With a sidewall, you can prevent rain and wind from coming in from the side and even with the sun, sidewalls on your marquee will create a larger shaded area. In some cases you can choose to customise your sidewalls with branding of your name, logo or other advertising.

•             Accessories – To be able to setup an instant marquee, you need to have the appropriate accessories to complement it. Most manufacturers will include accessories such as ground pegs with satchels, roof carry bags, guy straps, and instruction sheets, as standard to instant marquee packages. However often times the pegs and ropes supplied free are small and inferior. Ensure to insist on large steel ground pegs preferably NZ made, with sufficient anchoring power and heavy duty guy straps that can cope with adverse weather.

Instant marquees are commonly used for field days and trade exhibitions, catering, corporate functions, weddings, sporting events, motorsports, building sites, and even emergency services. You can purchase instant marquees that are not overly heavy yet extremely durable and strong. Sizes range from 2.4 x 2.4 metres or 3m x 3m to 3m x 6m and 4m x 8m in the larger sizes. Instant marquees are available in a wide selection of colours so ensure to select one that fits in with your corporate branding and colours.
