Iran Flash Update: North-Western Tehran Experiences Flash Floods and Mudslides

In Imamzadeh Davood, a religious site in northwest Tehran, flash floods and mudslides brought on by heavy rains early on July 28 have resulted in seven fatalities, nine injuries, and 19 unaccounted-for persons.


The Iranian Red Crescent Society has been conducting a search and rescue operation in امداد خودرو غرب تهران Province with the deployment of 121 relief workers, 10 rescue dog teams, and 20 operational vehicles in order to assist the affected households and look for the missing. More than 500 people have already been saved and taken to safer areas.

The situation is being monitored by the Tehran crisis management committee, which is led by the Tehran Mayor.

 The provinces of Yazd, Sistan and Baluchestan, Kerman, Bushehr, and Hormozgan were under the highest level of warning on July 27, according to the Iranian Meteorological Organization. According to reports, 21 of the nation's provinces may experience flooding and heavy rain up until Monday, August 1, 2022. The intense rains have already caused numerous roads in the provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan and Kerman to flood.

Prior to the landslide, flood warnings and heavy rain advisories had been issued to residents of Tehran's mountainous regions, stating that more precipitation was anticipated later in the day.
