RuneScape is OSRS gold free-to-play, though subscribers get access to more challenges, skills and things. You can try the subscription for free during a an initial seven-day trial. Mobile versions are compatible with cross-play and cross-progression with PC, so you can move between platforms and pick up the same way you left off.

It's important to note that this will not be Old School RuneScape, a version that's based on a build of 2007. It's been accessible in iOS and Android since 2018. This is the fully-fledged RuneScape that Jagex has been constantly improving over the last 20 years.

There's a huge demand for RuneScape in both iOS or Android. There are more than 1.8 million players pre-registered to play these versions, with an intuitive user interface that's mobile-friendly with new menus, icons, text and textures. Combat mechanics have been modified to work on iOS and Android.

The company has filed two trademarks in UK One to "OSRS Gold" as well as another in the name of "RS Gold", with the filing stating that the company has registered trademarks that use the words as words. This could prevent websites that are not affiliated with the company from being able to make claims that they sell RS Gold.

A simple Google search for either of these terms yields hundreds of websites, some of which have one of the terms mentioned in their URL, offering the possibility of currency in RuneScape that can be exchanged for real money. The announcement came on 14 October, that Jagex was putting an end for "real-world trading". In a post to its blog "The RuneScape Team" clarified that "gold purchased through RWT real-world trading cheap RS gold poses a threat to any online game featuring a trading currency."
