Fast and Easy Song Search Techniques

Everyone loves to sing, however, sometimes it can be hard to find a song that suits your voice. You might have been humming the same song for weeks, but can't find it when you need it. This blog post is designed to help you find new and exciting songs to sing in no time!

What is great about these techniques are that they are very fast and easy ways of searching for new songs - both old classics and the newest pop music hits.

To begin, go here to search the current top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.

  • Go to "Top Songs" tab where you'll see the current top 10 songs on the charts.
  • The very first thing you want to do is note the artist names of each song. For example, we'll search for "Despacito" because it's one my favorite right now and it's a great song too! (It was released 2 years ago, but hasn't been as popular as some other songs since. We'll fix that in a bit.)
  • Next we want to use YouTube to listen to the song and get an idea of what the song is about, how it feels, how easy it is to sing along with and if you can find any parts that jump out at you. (The producers might have done this for us already.)
  • I, personally, like to start with the first chorus of the song. I'll listen to it, again and again, until I can sing it back to myself without hearing it. This helps me get a feel for where I want my energy levels and pitch levels to be. Sometimes this part of the song isn't included in the search results or you might not have time because you're too busy jamming out.
  • So we found our next song! Let's try one more just for fun. (To be honest, I don't like this song, but I bet you can find a single pro to use this technique on - maybe a song from your childhood or something.) So, search for the following:

Artists: Kesha

Song Title: "Praying"

  • Listen to the first chorus of the song here. It'll take a bit longer since it's not that popular. It has only been out for one year, so it's still new.

Conclusion:

You can do this for other instruments and maybe even find new artists to listen to!

It's always good to try out different techniques for finding songs. What works for you?
