How to Let Yourself Enjoy Life

When something good happens, how do you handle yourself? Do you immediately dive into a state of joy and gratitude or do you refrain from overindulging in the moment or even analyze what just happened to see if it’s worth re-living again. A recent trip to my home country of India taught me that sometimes dwelling on the positive can be as unhealthy as dwelling on the negative. While there are plenty of people in India that have it easy—living healthy, happy, stress-free lives—there are also many more that live in abject poverty. Some would argue there’s no comparison. If you’re like most people and tend to focus on the negatives when things go well, it can be difficult to recognize how good things actually happen. The fact is, most of life’s good things will not last forever. Over time, they lose their luster and begin to feel routine until they don’t.

Take care of yourself

It's easy to let yourself forget about taking care of yourself. After all, you have jobs, family, friends, and so on to focus on. But, you need to take care of yourself. You need to eat well, get enough sleep, spend time doing what you love, and find time for self-care. Remember, you are the average of the five nearest people you more. So, regardless of how busy you are, you need to take care of yourself. It's the little things in life. For example, take a walk in the park. Go for a run in the morning. Meditate for five minutes every day. Do some yoga or stretching exercises at home. Do whatever it takes for you to take care of yourself. You will feel so much better when you start doing these things for you.

Make an effort for a happy moment

It can be really hard to focus on the present moment when you are really stressed out or upset in the past. But, try to get in touch with your feelings and actually feel them rather than just thinking about them. You will feel so much better once you let yourself fully enjoy the things that you have in your life. So, instead of trying to push away your problems, just feel them. Feel the hurt and the pain. Feel the sadness and the grief. Feel the frustration and the sadness that comes with those feelings. Just feel the things that you are feeling and feel them fully instead of trying to push them away. This will help you to avoid bottling up your emotions and pushing them into the negative.
